Six things worth knowing before you dial

• What kind of tree, if you know — a pine and a live oak are different jobs
• Its condition: green, browning, dead, cracked, or newly leaning
• What sits within falling distance — structures, wires, the neighbor’s dock
• How a truck gets close: gates, soft ground after rain, overhead clearance

The difference between a vague call and a specific one is usually a site visit: describe the tree well and the crew can often talk numbers on the first conversation instead of scheduling a look-and-see first.

If something has already fallen
